Loose sleeves in my WD-6

I have a WD-6 that I am overhauling. The sleeves that I bought were loose in the block. When I measured my block, the bores were out of round and oversize. These sleeves had a 4" bore. I have purchased SWD-6/SMD sleeves which my pistons will fit in and the O.D. of the sleeve is 1/8" larger. I am going to have a machine shop bore and hone the block to fit the larger O.D. sleeves. Does anyone know what the exact bore size and tolerance for a SWD-6 or SMD block is?

This is a new one on me!Ive never seen the inside of the walls get out of round like that. The sleeve would. Are you sure your checking the cylinder wall without a sleeve in it.Could it be possible that at one time it was ran without sleeves and then later put back in?

sometimes this will happen on the IH gas start diesels. IH did make oversize OD sleeves for these engines, but they were only marketed on the construction equipment side. Aftermarket suppliers like clevite also produced oversize OD sleeves at one point. They are not ususally needed, but on certain occasions they can be..

Never heard of doing that before. Are you sure the head gasket will seal the larger OD sleeves?

Yes, the same head gasket is used up through the 450D.
