I agree with poster below, 7-8 ft would be fine, maybe a little wider if You run in lower gears. I used to pull a 6 ft Brillion pull-type with a Super H all over in 3rd or 4th gear, but mostly 3rd.

Anyone know where I can get a gearbox for a 6ft Brillion rotary mower?

I have a 300U which is around 42hp at PTO with a 169 cu in engine. I have a 3 pt Howse 6 ft bush hog going through 6 ft tall thick weeds. I have to use 2nd and 3rd gear depending on the 1 -2 inch brush patches. Your SM has 264 cu in engine and 47-48 hp at PTO. My guess is that you could go to a 7ft or 8 ft heavy duty bush hog if 2nd or 3rd gear is acceptable.
