I suspect if the TA rattles it has a problem in the ta clutch. Does it slip in high or low? It could just need adjustment also. There is a quite complicated asjustment procedure for the ta and main clutch. If ta needs work you have to split the tractor twice, remove center section and disasemble it. Not a bad job if you have a hoist or loader and are not afraid of it. Also if you have service manuel and parts book. As far as worth of tractor, would depend upon the rest of the tractor, tires, metal, how well engine runs, live hydraulics, pto function.

I would think an average mta would be worth any where from $1000.00 to $2250.00. alot of it depends on tires, paint, sheet metal, and overall condition. I was at a sale here in IN. last saturday and a mta that supposably had the engine and ta rebuilt brought $4500.00. It might have been worth about $2000.00. it needed paint and had a major hydralic leak and the hydralics did not work and the pump was howling. it can't be good on it to run without oil in the pump. but everthing at the sale brought way over what it was worth. junk gravity flow wagon were going for at least $450.00 good ones were bringing $1000.00 - $1800.00 no bargins there that day.
