i took out all the bolts in the pto unit housing.
then i put the two short bolts back in to keep the two housings together.i can't get the whole pto unit to come loose.
i am going to get it off and have it rebuilt.
what am i doing wrong?
does anybody sell a complete rebuilt unit?
thanks barry chorum

Another hint ,if you don't want a bath in Hytran or don't want to lose a great amt. nose the front end down in a steep ditch so that the front is at least 2 to 3 feet lower than the rear . Your Case IH dealer should have a plate to go over the opening that he'll loan you so you can go ahead and use the tractor while the PTO is being rebuilt. At the dealer I worked at yrs. ago we pulled the PTO'S out of all used wholesale tractors.

Just a hint the suction tube for the hyd. angles down to the bottom of the housing, so tip the back down to clear it. Also get two bolts the same size of the bolts that hold the unit in, about 8 or 9 inches long and cut the heads off screw them in two of the holes to slide the unit on when replacing it makes it a lot easier to put bolts back in.
