My first cousin fell dead at 49 of a massive heart attack last winter leaving behind 12 of his RED dreams 2 of which have been in red power mag. all of these tractors were in running shape and 4 of them he had restored to perfection ,he was the kind of man hunted down those NOS parts and had to have every part the exact factory color even the small dash screws were replated , spending 12 thousand restoring a red tractor was ok ,since his death nothing has moved and his tools lay around the 560 he was putting the final touches on even a unopened Dr Pepper she took to him.Now she went ahead and had the new shop built that he was going to build for them but it has sat empty since finished 3 mounths untill today. She called me friday and said she was ready to start moving them,so today I put the charger on a few of them and they came back to life,I let them run about 30 min. and drove them to there new home, I put a fuel stabulizer in before I fired them and cut up some plywood to put between the new tires and new concrete then cut off the fuel and let them cut off themself. There is no anser to how long they will be sitting but besides taking out the batterys is there something else I should do,there is only 1 five year old grandson that I hope grows up love them as he did so they may have to sit a long time before im asked to bring them back to life.

In addition to what the others have already said, I would consider putting blocks (not concrete) under the axels and between the front wheels, to keep the weight off the tires. If these machines are going to stand for a few decades, they will eventually loose air, and ruin the tires, unless someone routinely checks the inflation.

I'll say what the others have said. Drain the anitfreeze & gas, & pour a little oil in each cylinder. Cover the exhaust. If you do drain the antifreeze, might consider putting a note on each steering wheel, in case someone comes along & you aren't around for info. Also, remove all the batteries. This is just a personal prefence. A battery won't last forever, especially if it's not used. So take them out & put them in an easily accessible place.

They sell a fogging oil just made for engines that are being stored for a long time. It comes in spray can so you can spray it into the sparkplug holes. I would definetely use some in these.

If they are going to be sitting for several years I would drain the antifreeze all out of the radiator and block, too.

pull the hose off the carburator start them up and pour clean oil in running at fast idle kill them on oil this will lube valves and all ( dont do this with a deisel)drain carb and gas tank .cover exhaust put hose back on carb. this wont hurt a thing just smoke on start up but at least if sitting 20 years will still start up.

Yes Marvel Mystery oil is still available. However ATF works just as good and is a lot cheaper.

Marvel mystery oil is still available. A good auto parts store or hardware store should have it or be able to get it for you.

Dale, I'm very sorry to hear of your cousin's passing, may God be with you and your's.

On the tractors, a little oil sure wouldn't hurt, also, it would really help to take a hand crank and turn the engines over every few months, maybe add a little oil in the plug holes too, as the oil will run down by the rings eventually.

Good luck, and pass on our thoughts to the family.

Remove the gas from the tank. If you are going to let them set for a few years the gas will not be any good that is in there now. You can always put gas in if you need to move them.

Dale, You probably want to check the anti-freeze in each of the tractors to make sure they are good for the winter. You may assume that the previous owner took care of it, but you can't be sure unless you check yourself.

I think I'd put some oil in each one of the cylinder, that way if they sit for years they may not lock up from sitting. Just an idea

I strongly agree with putting a little oil in each of the cylinders! I am still working on a Cletrac that was parked in the steel barn when we bought the farm. We were told that it ran good when the former owner parked it. I'm about ready to pull the heads and whats left of my hair out! So, a little oil surely wouldn't hurt.

Greg, have you tried turpentine in the cylinders, also you would by chance have a delco starter number off that cletrac would you, I need a starter for my cletrac and haven't been able to find the right one. If you have a starter number please e-mail it to me Thanks
