Does anyone else out there have trouble when starting their Super H during cold weather like I do? I choke it to start it or to keep it running once it starts and I end up with a miss. It acts like a fouled plug but but when I pull the plug on the cylinder that is not firing it appears to be O.K. Leaving it run for a while doesn't resolve the problem. The next day if you don't flood it again it is O.K.

Take the distributor cap off and clean out the dirt and moisture. Any moisture will cause the spark to not go where and when it is supposed to.
After the engine has run for a while the engine heat may allow things to be normal again.
After cleaning, spray with a de-greaser and wipe with a CLEAN DRY rag or towel. I have successfully sprayed JB-80 on the bakelite surfaces after cleaning to help prevent moisture build-up in the future. Ignition problems have led many mechanics to look at the carburetor as the source of their troubles.
Clean & adjusted pionts, clean inner and outer distributor surfaces and decent wires go a long way to fix your problems.

I had similar problems in cold weather with my Super M when I first got it. After much trial and error I found hotter spark plugs was the cure (switched from D-17 to D-21). It's been trouble free for 6 or 7 years now - on the same set of D-21's.

BobM-concur on the D21's.
If the engine isn't top notch-hotter plugs are required.
My '54 runs perfect with them in,as well as new solid core plug wires and new dist. cap and rotor.
I always crank first and then add choke rather than full choke from the first crank, then add or let off choke until engine runs smooth.

Had the same problem with 2 of mine, seemed to help by turning in the economy screw on the bottom of the carb but they are still more "cold blooded" than a regular H. hope this helps Pat in Wisc.

Is it always the same cylinder that Misses? Bad plug or Low compression !I'd try hotter plug /new wire then compression check in that order. John
