Hi Guys,

I have all my little toys gathered up and am in the process of throwing them all into one single pile now.

I'm putting on a Swartz wide front on my H. I'm at the point of strapping it to the frame but it looks as though that lower 'air pan' under the front pulley has to go.

It was getting dark last night and I couldn't see very well, so I quit; but I thought maybe someone here who has put one of these things on could help me out. Does that lower air pan have to be removed?

PS. This swapping front ends was easier when I was 14!! How could these parts gain so much weight in just 40 years?

Thanks,

Allan

While I have you guys on the phone, what about the dust covers over the wheel seals?

The ones that came off this tricycle are tooooo big for the boss on the swartz.

Did you just leave 'em off?

Thanks,

Allan

I put a Swartz wide front on my 300 and I did take that pan off. It was put there to keep dirt or mud that the front wheels pick up from getting on the fan belt. With a wide front the tires won't throw mud into the fan so it won't really be needed.

I've always removed the pan. I always thought that the pan was to keep crud from the narrow wheels from getting up around the pulleys etc. With the Schwartz you won't have that happening.

It is only natural for things to gain weight as they get older, I have gained quite a bit myself.
