I'm ready to order sleeves and pistons for my 46 A and will be getting the 3 1/8 inch overbore set. What do you think about using stepped head pistons? I remember reading that they were harder to start. Do any of your have experience using them in a regular A? Also, I'd would like suggestions on where to purchase them. Basic kits are running around $300-350 on internet sites. What about getting them from the CaseIH dealer?

Thanks for the information. Since I have a starter and battery/distributor ignition I will definitely go with 3 1/8 overbore and stepped head pistons.

There is a difference in the height of the dome from brand to brand. Put a set of hi-dome CONFORMATION pistone in and had to go to a DIST so it would start. These were the FIRE-CRATER type. Former I=H mech also told me there was a directive from I-H that when using FIRE CRATERS you would need to change from MAGNETO to DIST.

I put a set in my "C" last year with no problems,I didn't see if yours has electric start in your post, but it shouldn't matter. I bought my set at NAPA,less expensive than IH and I feel like I bought locally. John.
