Hi this winter I am going to rering my 1946 H. What parts should I change while Im in there? Im not doing a total rebuild just rings rod bearings and that. Where is the best place to get these parts? What are good prices? What should I do to the head? I thing my valves are messed up now because it only wants to run on 3 cylinders but pulls great. Thanks for any help.

Matt

If you are doing rod bearings and rings, I would go ahead and put in new main bearings. I'm pretty sure you can do that without removing the crank (I just done it on my M). It's tuff to get the bearing inserts rolled out, but I did it by sticking a nail in the hole in the crank and turning the crank by hand (you got to find that just right nail and be careful not to damage the new bearing when rolling it back in). Get a gasket set that will include all the gaskets you will need. While you have the head off, you might as well take it to a head shop and have it checked out. Have the head shop do whatever the head needs. Would also be a good time to rebuild the carb, and tune it up (new plugs, wires, points, ext.). Maybe new belts and hoses. I got all the parts for my M I needed from local farm oriented auto parts store. Just my two cents worth.
