Called aguy about an MD tonight. He says it only runs on 3 cylinders. He doens't know why, hasn't had it long. Has rims from a 3 or 400 series, 15 inch wide. He has 1 original, and can come up with another. Has never tried to start it on gas. I can rebuild the carb easy enough is parts are available. Any ideas why it only runs on 3 cylinders? Bad injector or loss of compression is my guess. If I do a compression test, what should be good readings? Who has parts (piston/sleeve kits, bearings, etc) for these? I'd love to buy it, but is it worth $800? Paint & sheet metal don't scare me, Dad & I both can paint pretty well and he's good with sheet metal, and I'm learning. Besides, I want to use it anyway, so look's aren't that big of a deal. Thanks Bindernut

I know MD Karl has gotten offered 6500 for his after all fixed up and painted. Has a little more than that in it. His had a cracked block. I have seen oringinal ones around in Ohio for 1500 up to 3000 running. get it for as competitive price as you can they are a little expensive to fix up but they are fun tractors to run. Hope this helps. Good luck.

How is he starting it if not on gas? If he is using ether the motor is probably shot. A carb rebuild kit is about two hundred fifty dollars. Great tractors but expensive to work on.

Pull starts it. 250 for a carb kit? YIKES!

Thanks

Pull starting them is just as bad I would be very aware of the state of the engine. Try to see if you can get it to start on gas and go from there.

I have all the hard to find parts: P&S Sets, Main Bearings (0.030), Full Gasket sets, etc.

your local Case IH dealer can still get the valves, Guides, and Rod Bearings.

on these engines, always make sure you have the bearings before the crank is ground.

Justin, thanks for the reply. But you left no e-mail address, phone number, what have you. How can I get in touch with you?

Thanks
