I am in the middle of replacing brakes, seals and one axle bearing on a 1941 A. It seemed like it would be a complicated job before I started, but it's going pretty smoothly, except for the axle bearing retainer that I broke one of the ears off. If anyone has one to sell, please contact me. Also, does anyone know the procedure for replacing the oil seal in the front of the transmission case? Thanks for any advice!

I'm going in tonight on my BN. We'll have to compare notes. My IT manual is a little vague....

Take care
Steve

Maybe we can all commiserate together. I've got a '50 Super A that needs the brakes replaced. Is it common to have difficulty working on these?

Hey Slappy and Steve W. I'd be glad to share some info with you guys and anyone else. You can e-mail me direct or we can continue to post on this forum. As for replacing the the brakes, it's not hard, you just have to take so many parts off to get to them. I'm trying to get the brake material and rivets locally and have the auto mechanic in town put them on since he has an old machine to do that. I will have the drums turned or roughed up just a little a little since they are smooth as glass. A tip when reassembling - the final drive axles are not the same length - one is half an inch longer than the other on the A! R and L also have different bolts and washers on their ends.
