Gents
I am looking at a 44 B IH with a cracked block and am wondering what block(s) will bolt in its place. How much can I expect to pay for a replacement? I'm willing to completely redo the engine.
Thanks for any info.
Anyone have a decent B they want to sell at a reasonable price. I’m in southern Minnesota
Paul

Paul, the block from an A,AV, and BN are identical to the B. A block from a superA, C, or superC will fit but have the hole for the hyd pump. Early 135 blocks are the same as superC's etc, but the later 135s were a new design all together and take a different head.

If the crack in the block is just on the side behind the carb, it's fixable, but if it runs on top between pistons, then it's junk. A 123 block will fit right in also. Also a 135. Just a block will run between $200-300, depending on how much innards have been removed.

take a look at a web site that used to be central tractor, putting the web site in a post seams to kick it out. That'll give you a price on a rebuilt shortblock.
