m compression results

the dry test was- #1=65 #2=65 #3=65 #4=75
the wet test was- the same no change. for the wet test I put 3 squirts of oil in each cyl. results make me think the valve adjustment . the tractor starts well and no smoke but the power seems off. what would the perfect compression be? thanks--mike

I recently did a test on my SM came up 140 across the board.did 1 on my M WAS 130on 2, 135 on other 2 not bad for35 year old rings!

The readings are within the 10lb area so not too bad a reading. You should take reading when engine is warm and all plugs are out then turn over three times checking how much the reading is on each rev.

It can make quite a difference. With the throttle plate closed, you are restricting the amount of air to compress.
