I'd like to know if on a 450 with trike front end if I could take and put the wheels out wider as in mount them on the out side of the hub instead of on the inside I have to put tires on any way so I figured if I have to take them off why not see if this can work and what problems might I have if I do I know it will only make them set out a couple of inches but I figure any little bit will help Thanks for any and all info you guys can give me

That is why they called them adjustable rims run them any way you like.

I have to agree with GT, some of these guys must have a weight lifters arms and shoulders on them. Man those old Farmalls steered hard enough set out wide even without a loader. The other factor of course, don't ever have your wrist through the steering wheel. I know a guy who demolished a good wrist watch plus broke his wrist when one front wheel hit a rock. You'll really have to hold onto that steering wheel.

A far as rollover goes it isn't going to help you one little bit. Ballast on the rear wheels is what keeps a narrow front upright. Lower the center of graviety, Calcium Chloride way to go.

Hugh, the 450 probably has power steering.

Hi R, There are 4 ways to bolt on the front wheels of our tractors: (I have a 400). As well as the inside or outside of the hub, the wheel is offset so you have an option there too.
If you're not concerned with mud, it doesn't seem like the small benefit in tipping that spreading the front out buys, is worth the increased difficulty in steering and the stress on the worm gear at the top of the bolster.

We used to run an H with a loader, set the wheels out as wide as they would go so they wouldn't roll up with mud going through the feedlots. We never broke a wheel.

R-MARG, yes, you can set them out. IH actaully called the front with the 3 lugs on the rims an adjustable front end. Some of the H's etc were not adjustable. As far as problems, not sure. That might put a little more strain on the spindles and/or make it steer a little harder.
