Greasy John,

1st thing I would do is put a muffler on it--since you're trying to troubleshoot. I can't help with the T/A area, but are you sure that it's not in the engine bottom end? If you're sure it's in the T/A, then you might drain some fluid and see if any shavings or other pieces are showing up. ID the material and you might get a clue what's happening. I've got an 80 year old mechanic buddy in the hospital--he's worked on those quite a bit. Sunday afternoon, I'll ask about your noise when I see him.

Could you please explain what you mean by a "Landfill 350"?

Hey Kevin sounds like a deal to me! No,this noise is not in the lower end as its all in spec.
It is not syncronized with the engine RPM seem like maybe 1/4 the of the engine speed. and is rather heavy thump like a gear with something between the teeth.Does it with clutch in or out same with the Torq-amp lever.to David---- The landfill 350 is an applied name as it looked like that is where it came from. OK???

The landfill name isn't so unusual. I heard about a fellow over in Alabama that bought some property with a "large tractor" and a "small tractor" on it--both antiques. A friend of mine asked me if I wanted them for free. I told him whenever the owner wanted to meet me on the property I'd pick them up. Called a week later and my "friend" had forgotten to contact the owner. Long story short version: He had the construction crew dig a hole with an excavator and they pushed the two tractors into the hole and buried them. To this day, I don't know what make they are...The lesson I learned is don't wait for someone else--go talk to the owner directly...

Kevin-- I found my clunking noise and being today is my birthday WHAT A LOUSY PRESENT!!
The Retainer bolt came out of the PTO driven gear ahead of the torque amp and ate the big gear and the front shaft ---Now more questions How far do I go?? Going to take out the damaged gear and finish the restore-refurbishing?? and look for the shaft and gear. Dont know how long they ran it that way but considerable by the looks of the shaft. Maybe this one shud have been buried. HI.
