what is the best way to remove and replace a clutch on a h do you have to break tractor apart? thanks

All the parts are at your local case-ih dealer. I know you can get the pilot bearing at Napa, not sure on the clutch though. There is a guy selling "H" clutch kits on ebay for $140 or so.

I would split the tractor to do it. It's much easier to work on that way. All you need is an engine lift to support the front half of the tractor, and nice concrete surface to roll on. As others have said, you don't have to split it, but I prefer spliting. I have done 3 this way.

I just did one on my H a month or so ago.
I documented it with photos on my web site.
Click on the link then scroll down to the link for clutch replacement.
Have fun with the pilot bearing :-)

NO, you don't have to split it if you don't have to remove flywheel. You can drop the belly pump, and remove the clutch and pressure plate thru the opening.
