Rear axle on Farmall A

My thoughts are if it moves 1/2" the bearing must have moved some. I think I would remove the final drive from tractor, then you could suspend the final drive on it's side with axle hub down or up for that matter. Move the axle back and forth the 1/2" This should give you better view of what is sticking and where. With the use of a small punch try sliding bearing back the 1/2". With the final drive suspended on two blocks and axle hanging down you could use a brass punch or hardwood block to hammer on inner end of axle. Key here is not hit anything very hard. You may have to move it back and forth the 1/2" several times. A lot of patience is in order. Let me know how you make out.
