Battery wont charge off system, the generator has just been rebuilt professionally, the battery new and checks out and takes a charge off the charger,if I have some type of slow discharge any guesses?I dont know ifsystem was charging before I replaced it or not,as the tractor set out side for a good part of its life and took and had a generator rebuilt off a 460 and placed on this.
Any ideas?? as always thanks in advance

if its a 12v generator, you need to polarize the fields in the generator. I replaced the voltage regulator on mine and I had to polarize it about 3 time to get it to finally charge. its been working great ever since.

Red:

Did you check your regulator for voltage output with a meter? If it is ok, then check to see if you're getting same volatge at the batt. If you have an AMP guage on the IP, you may want to check to make sure the guage is good also.

Hi,

Did you excite the field? How about the regulator? Is it pulling it in?

Make sure the voltage regulator is grounded. If the mounting bracket was taken loose under the fuel tank there might be dirt under the bracket
