Several years ago I converted by 300U to 12 volts using a generator. Seems like every 3 years I have to put on a new regulator. A new one works fine for a while, then I have to rev up the tactor to get it to begin charging, sometimes have to tap the side of the regulator to get it to charge and eventually it has to be replaced to get it to charge. Should these things last longer? Anybody have an idea as to what happens to them. I saw similar problems when my H and M used to be 6 volts and had regulators.

I think vibration can confuse the regulator after time.
