Hi all
I would lie to know if my 574 can handle a log splitter hooked up to the remotes. Any help would be appreciated. I need to know specs such as stock GPM, pressure at high idle, and whether it's an open or closed system. None of this info is in my operators manual.
Thanks in advance
ray

My brother has a 454D which is the 3 cyl version of 574D. He uses a log splitter connected to the hydralic remotes and ties the remote control lever open and uses the hydraulic control on the splitter.

A word of caution, if you by a new or used log splitter, drain all the hydraulic oil out of the splitter cylinder and replace it with IH hytran hydraulic oil. My brother bought a used log splitter several years ago and hooked it up to his 454D. It turned out the cylinder had regular detergent motor oil in it and it caused all sorts of air bubbles in the brakes, power steering etc.
He had to drain and flush the complete transmission/hydraulic system.

Good Luck
JB

The hdy. pump if in good shape should give you 12.5 gpm at 1250 lbs presure at around 2200 rpm but at some time or other someone may have put in a higher pressure releif valve in it and that is a good thing and yes it should run a log splitter or ya may have to up date the releif valve to a 2250 lbs.
