Thanks for your posts - here is the H in question - H or Super H? Also can see his larger, but younger brother IH656. Got the pair as part of a property purchase.

When finding the Serial Number on the H - I assume it's the number on the riveted plate under the left side of the gas tank - All I have is 10773 J. The plate is painted over several times, so no prefix is available.

Wow, you folks are a wonderful source of information - Thanks

Eric

judging from the remains of the sticker on the hood i see no indication of super above the h so i believe it is a 1940 H

Eric-
These guys have identified it correctly as a Super H. I have a 53 Super H and it is one of my favorite tractors; definitley one I would keep and never get rid of. I grew up on an M but the Super H reminds me of an M, much more tractor than an H I think. I think that Super H's are just plain neat tractors.

Eric,
You'll also come to learn that the original IH logo on the front grille is a fairly good indicator it's a SH. The H's originally had Farmall logos on the front, like mine here.

Looks like yours has a lot of potential. The sheetmetal surely looks straight, anyway. Good luck and have fun with the SH and the new property.

It,s a 1953 have one just like it. They didn,t build super h,s in 1952. As for the wheel weights they did alot of that back in the 50,s.

Eric - That's a 'Stage 1' Super H - most likely a 1952. Except for the wheel weights it looks nearly identical to my '52 SH before restoration...punch below for a photo.

You indeed have a "diamond in the rough!

That is a super H, the way to tell the diffrence is the brakes. the regular H as band brakes and tin brake housings the super H as dusk brakes and cast housings. Nice tractor you have, are you going to keep it original?
