I posted a want ad, but wanted to make sure I covered all the bases.
I'm looking for a steering wheel w/ center, pto sheild, and a original operators manual in good to new condition. I would like to change the dc generator to an alternator, do they make a conversion for this?

Thanks for all your help! Maybe some day I can return the favor.

Tim

The later 656's came out with alternators I think after 1968, and the 706 diesel with 282's in the end of 1966 had alts. on them. You can still buy new brackets for alts. from a caseIH dealer or try to locate one in a salvege yard. Part # on a new is 384996R1 and 384995R1. There are two peices.

I may be able to help you out with a PTO shield, but I can't find your ad over in the classified section - is it there??

Tim: On the alternator you should be able to just do a swap and do away with the generator and regulator. Use a GM Delco with built in regulator. The last of the 656s, 666 and 686 all had alternators. Get a V8 Olds or Buick double pulley from the early 80s. With that double pulley, you can use either one, gives more options on placment of alternator, plus is small enough to give the alternator speed it needs to self excite.
