Went to start my 400 this am, put battery in, fired right up. Then it started missing on one cylinder. There was a little moisture out of the exhaust(maybe a teaspoon full). This tractor has been sitting for almost 8 months as it is my snowplow tractor. I have put new rotor/cap/plugs/ wires/condenser on, no change. Pulling #2 plug wire does not change engine sound so my best guess is something wrong with #2, my question is can any one give me some advice on what to look for next? Thanks in advance badpenny

If you put new plugs in the tractor, I might think that one of the plugs are bad....switch the location of your spark plugs and see which cylinder has the misfire then....If it still misfires on #2, you know your plugs are OK and you have an internal problem....If the misfire follows the plug, then I would suggest getting new AUTOLITE plugs....I have had bad luck with Champion, maybe that's your problem.....Hope that helps,

Have a nice day,

If your tractor has been sitting for that long maybe there is a valve sticking. If you check the compression it should tell you if the valves are working. Could also pull the valve cover.
