Looking at a Farmall M with an aftermarket 3pt. Will this assembly be able to lift a 6-row cultivator. I want to put that ole girl to good use, and I figured a little brush-hogging and cutting out some volunteer corn would make sure she stayed lubed up and run through all the gears.

Can if lift it?

Does it have enough pony's to dig that cultivator in?

my 60 hp m wont pull 4-14 in sw wisconsin or pull an 8ft brush hog in tall grass or thorns. what ru guys thinking?
the cultivator is a normal one it doest inject nitrogen or anything else. but when u put it on our 7220 magnum and pick it up u know its there.
you guys must have flat land and perfect soil.

With enough weight on the front it will probably pick it up, but in Mississippi Delta soil four rows is all a M wants.

my six row cultivator gets put on our jd 4455 which weighs in at 16500 lbs and has 1400 lbs of weight on front. I know it wont lift ours and it takes a minimum of 100 horse to pull this cultivator. The last time i used an M on a brush hog it ruined the M Pto. you guys must have pathetic mowers and cultivators made out of tin foil. That cultivator weighs at least 2500 lbs.
You will twist the M in half lol
Remind me a again why international was bought out and John Deere is still in the lead?

You might want to do your homework on that one, J.D. might be the leader in sales, if you want to count riding lawn mowers.

So wait.... someone earlier was sayin they were pullin 4-14's behind a Farmall M. Your tryin to tell me that it can pull 4 plow shares im guessin pretty deep, and it can't dig those little Cultivator tines in?

2500 lb's of cultivator? That is a ton of cultivator; is that one of those deep diggers that inject nitrous or whatever.

As hugh's story demonstrates, there is a difference between "horse-power" and "lugging power"

That M will play with that 6 row, but if you got narrow rows, your gonna have to bring those wheels in awefull tight to get the correct alignment, and you won't have much room for error if it is narrow front

Stuart: I know what you are saying. I wanted a rotary hoe for my Farmall Super A. Used ones are usually worn to bits. The smallest new one built that I could find was a 400 JD 3 point and 15' wide. Just a bit much for my SA. I was talking with a friend and we went to John Deere dealer and bought the new one. Since those are made up of 2-4' sections and 2-3.5' sections, we cut the 4x4 main tool bar at the 7-8' mark. He took the 8 footer for use behind his 2350. We fabricated a fast hitch for my section at his shop. His section was ready for use first. He headed into field just a very slight incline. I couldn't believe the black smoke that 2350 was belching and loosing rpms as well. This 2350 was almost new at the time. I though, well I've made a mistake this time my Super A will never pull the 7' rotary hoe. Surprise the Super A plays with 7' rotary hoe in 3 gear, even on hills and has no problems lifting it. That is OK, I understand your problem, most of these guys may not.

My 3 point will lift the front off the ground before it quits lifting. With the 6 row cultivator you may have to put some weight out front.

Leeker, that M will bend the frames on that cultivator and pull it to pieces, it will twist the shaft off of the bush hog, so you have more power than you need...as for the 3pt...it depends on the weight of the cultivator..they were designed to lift 4 row cultivators..... Mike in Exeter Ontario

Mike: Careful, in potato country a Farmall M is only a two row machine. In fact the potato guys were never satisfied they had enough wallop for two rows until they got the 560 and 656. I think someone on here may be talking potato cultivator, and that will swamp you corn and beans guys.
