I'm planning on splitting my Super H to rebuild the engine. On the left side of the engine, right above the siderail bolts, is a stud. Does this come into play when splitting the tractor? What is that stud there for? It's only on the left side.

Yes it does come into play as it is an alignement stud along with one on the other side that may point the opposite direction into or out of the clutch housing. Make sure you crib up safely when splitting the SH.

Be sure to take the starter off and look see if there is a stud inside the bell housing. It may help in spliting and one less thing to bind up in the spliting process. It's been a while since I've had one apart.
