Add-on enclosed steering on Regular

I looked at a regular this weekend that looked like it had some type of aftermarket enclosed steering kit. It looks like it is a simple worm arrangement and the top of the casting is flat unlike the F20/30. It looks like the kit slipped over the round part of the upper bolster and clamped on with one bolt. Does anyone know who made this kit? I could not find any markings on it.

Thank you,

Jon Aller

That aftermarket steering kit was most likely made by a company in either Omaha, or Lincoln, Nebraska. I have seen that type on a few Regulars over the years, but it is not all that common of an attachment. It eliminated the thumb-busting tendencies of the original Regular steering by the use of a worm gear.
