I have a large hilly lawn to mow and I'm a IH nut. Well today I saw a 154 lo-boy for sale, and it looked real good except, there were pulleys just behind the fly wheel with no belts on them. I was just wondering what they drive? The plates that normally cover this area were removed. Thankyou for any input! Mark R.

I have a 154 also with a 60" mower. The pulley that you are talking about is for a 2 belt set to run the pto. I just replaced them on mine again a couple of years ago. The last time I bought a set from an after market that were about $25 and they only lasted a year, the last ones I went with a set from the dealer that were $55 and they seem better. The origional set lasted almost 18 years BTW.

Mark I have a 154 lo-boy and a hilly yard. I think the pulleys you are refering are the ones that drive the pto (there is a very exspensive clutch pack that goes on the pto so be I would questioning why the belts are off). The 154 is a good mower if you keep up with the grass, if it gets ahead of you it will really struggle with hills and tall grass. Remember it is only about 12-13 hp and is cutting 60". I think the engine is the same as the farmall cub tractor. Hope this helps Brian.
