My 1946 A has an aftermarket lift. It consists of a motor driven pump on the left side of the seat, with a rather large cylinder hanging from the belly. Anyone have any knowledge of these things? Guy I bought it from told me it is an aftermarket lift often used back then. Anyway, problem is that it drifts down, and rarely (but sometimes) keeps the deck in the up position. Cylinder only has the one hose connected to it. Any ideas will be sincerely appreciated! ....Stan

If your cylinders are like mine, there should be a hole at the top. If your cylinder Seals are bad, oil would be spewing out of this little hole when you fully extend. If this is the problem, as Tiny said, replace seals. If it's not you have a leaky valve.

Replace the seals in the cylinder and that might help in keeping it up. As for the set up I know nothing about it.
