I inhierited a 48 H, my father in law said it was converted from kero to gas. The engine cover is bent to allow the dist to fit. Is this the correct cap? Where can I get a new cap and rotor?
also I need a sediment bowl gasket. any help would be great.

Larry is right. Everybody needs to know that Delco made that upright distributor to fit most all tractors back then. The same points ect. fit IH Case and Allis Chalmers. They are actually a nicer distributor because they are easier to service and the points are on a ecentric screw for fine adjustment. And yes the hood runs pretty close past the cap..

Yooper, sounds like you have an aftermarket dist. The originals ran horizontally along the engine. You should be able to get a cap and rotor at napa. Get the number off the dist for them to match.

Actually, the H could have either the horizontal IH type, or the Delco-Remy, which stands vertically. I have been having trouble finding tune-up parts for the delco.
With either distributor, there is no need to bend any thing for it to fit.

Rusty, If you have a NAPA dealer close by, you should be able to get the Delco parts from him. Here are the numbers you need for all the parts - at least that's what my '46 H with a Delco distributor needed.

The distributor cap is NAPA part number RR145.
The rotor is NAPA part number RR83. The points set is NAPA part number CS763A.
Tthe condensor is NAPA part number RR174. By the way, if you have the short oil filter, it is NAPA part number 1172. Hope this helps some. Larry

I did check with my napa dealer, they do not have parts for the delco. Neither does my Case-IH dealer. Both places told me that they do not even have listings for the delco units.
I think I will try again, and use the numbers you gave.

WHAT??? Your C-IH dealer can't find the parts? He isn't looking very hard-probably only looking in the computer & not at the old books. Call Scott Supply, Mitchell, SD (605 996-7704). They will have the parts in stock, will take a credit card & will ship anywhere. Just tell them what you have. Some of the parts guys can go to the shelf & pick them up w/o looking for anything in the book except the price. I just got some distributor parts for a Delco that I have on my SC Case & IH parts for the IH that I have on my H a couple of weeks ago, caps, rotors, point/condenser sets & all. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
