My brother just aquired a 300 utility with a T/A. The clutch doesn't quite disengage to shift but it doesn't grab until the pedal is almost up. Will the clutch work without the T/A? The handle is missing and I understand that to adjust the clutch you have to adjust the T/A. Also when the pedal comes up just a little you can hear gears rubbing that sounds like the PTO going into gear. The PTO seems to be "on" all the time, even with the lever "off". Any help will be appreciated and, yes I know, we need to get a manual. We just can't wait. Thanks, Dan.

The TA needs to be adjusted even if you don't use it because if not it can make the gears hang bad and hard to shift if the clutch does not engage till all moust the way up sounds like main clutch is getting close to being gone. the main clutch has nothing to do with PTO if PTO runs all the time the brake is not holding.

Thanks for the info. We will get the T/A handle and adjust it right. I had hoped to avoid splitting the tractor though. Still, I think a clutch is cheaper than a T/A. Thanks again, Dan.
