I posted a few days ago. I have an 1940 H that the block wont hold sleeves. There is 2 thousands clearence all around the sleeves when I slide them in the block. Im not going to work the tractor hard or nothing, so I was wondering if Lock tite or a sleeve glue would hold them in place? And what kind of glue is the best? I checked all over to find oversized sleves and the only ones I could find them for was a M. Thanks for any help.

Sounds to me like somebody didn't know about putting the sleeves in the freezer before installing them, and when they wouldn't slide in to suit them, they honed the block. Since .002" is a mighty small clearance to fill, I'd probably try the Loctite product, if it was me...couldn't make things worse, and it just might help.

The sleeves are not secured by the interference fit in the block the top of the sleeve protrudes above deck and that holds the sleeve in. I have herd of people painting sleeves with aluminum paint to get a better fit and it also helps conduct heat from the sleeve to the block. Unless you did something bad when you removed the old ones I would just put loctite on it and forget it.

Joe, I would never rebuild an engine that I had to use glue to hold the sleeves in place. Your best bet is to have your block bored and put super H sleeve and Pistons in. The Super H has a 1/8 larger bore that the H.

I saw your post the other day but didn't respond as I don't know of oversize sleeve availability. However, locktite makes a sleeve retainer, I think it is green, but I have not had a need to try it. I would think they would have a customer service number that you could call and inquire how much gap it will fill and properly retain the sleeve. Good luck.

I believe loc-tite (green-you are correct)sleeve retainer must have a press fit to work correctly. Of course as always I could be wrong....again....Mike

Be careful on the Locktite products. Most are designed so that when heatet to about 350 or 400 degrees (F), it turns to powder, allowing normal removal of fasteners. Might not be a long term fix in this instance. Best would be to talk directly with a distributor first.
