Question for Bob M or any one else that can help.
Bob i study with interest your wiring diagrams very helpfull, my problem is my M's light switch appears perfect apart from the dimmer coil it's rusted or burnt through any sugestions on the guage of wire i should use to make a new one.

Good question! The "DIM" setting is something I never use (the old 6 volt lights are dim enough as it is...) To replace a bad coil I've simply jumpered the dimmer coil connections with a bit of #14 wire - ending up with two "BRIGHT" switch settings.

However if you really want to dim the lights you could wind your own resistor coil by trial and error. Use heater wire salvaged from an old hair dryer, toaster, etc. If you have a VOM you're looking for coil voltage drop of about 1 volt at a current of about 8 amps, or ~0.125 ohms total resistance.
