I bought a 3 bottom 14" fast hitch plow on a sale yesterday. On the top it appears to have "34?3" painted on it (not sure that the last number is a 3). It has a gauge wheel and a tail wheel (both shot) on it that are similiar to a #311 plow. It has a coil spring for the trip mechanism. Beam part numbers are as follows: #520607R1 (#1 beam), #520608 (#2) and #520610 (#3). Can I remove the outside beam on this plow and reduce it to a 2 bottom. I don't have my 340 weighted and I would also like to be able to use it with my 240. Thanks for the help.

Re: Friendly message to Dwight selling the Super C in reply to mkirsch, 03-07-2009 04:15:05
Kirsch: I'm a champion at this, although most may not think so. I have a 130, it's seen lots of hard hours. Twice in the past I had it in two-three pieces, going to part it out, then I find a real steat on parts needed. I had robbed the parts for what I considered better tractors.

In the past ten years I've bought some cheap used parts plus the following new parts, clutch assembly, water pump, had distributor and carb professionally rebuilt, new front tires and rims, new rebuilt starter, 12 volt alternator conversion and a new battery 2 months ago. The tractor needs a piston and sleeve kit rear tires and rims to be in top shape.

I really don't need this tractor, but do you really think someone is going to pay me for the recent upgrades with the engine compression at 55 psi, all cylinders, plus poor rims and tires. I THINK NOT.

Soon be my 67th birthday so I may as well do the engine, buy rear tires and rims, then take it with me when I go. Just think Kirsch, they could dig an 8' deep hole put me on bottom, with 130 down to axles as a grave marker. Should hold me down.

Port of Alexandria has em for $130. These were $45. I did mean 15" x 8'. Where you from "NawlensGator"? I am up here in Natchitoches. The culverts were down around False River.

DJ: My first reaction is your plow is a 311. The coil spring you mention was an option avaivable on most mounted IH plows in the years just preceeding the trip bottoms. Can you post or send me a picture of this plow. Removing the third bottom from plow could present some problems in getting it to pull right. Remember that pull beam with the coil spring must pull from the center of the total plowing cut. That part should be adjustable. There were some differences on these and without picture there is a chance of giving you misinformation. I like to see people achive good plowing, competition calibre plowing.

Re: 51 Farmall Cub Brakes in reply to DaRock, 03-08-2009 06:32:18
Yes i get linning from a old old brake shop in CR and the ruvets and do them myself. The prices they want for the relined ones is got far out of shape. My last restoration was on a Cub just like you sain oil soaked terrible linning was like new after i sandblasted.also did the drums thing realy has brakes now. I have also put the drums in the lathe and take a small cut with sharp v-shaped tool this makes like an old phono record with small grooves realy have brakes then
