My newly aquired farmall 460 has a plug under the seat for trailer lights etc. Two prong in a metal case with a spring loaded door. Do the Case/IH dealers still sell the other end? (I don't have a local dealer to ask) Where can you get one? Could that be used to plug in a trickle charger, to keep the battery topped off, so you wouldn't have to remove the cowls? Thanks

If I'm not mistaken the only time that plug is hot is when the lights are on. I have never used a trickle charger but I would think to use this plug you would have to have the light switch on to complete the circuit to the battery. Not sure if you would gain anything like that. Sounds like you might want to do some rewiring for a place to hook your trickle charger. As far as finding a plug for this at Case/IH, good luck. If anyone could it would be at Owensville or Mt. Sterling. Crown Power is a joke for parts in my opinion. Best of Luck.

It must be that I got the right guy at crown implement. I went in for a glow plug and axle seals and came out with them plus a new point for my backhoe bucket. He seemed to know his old tractors. G

Duh! never thought about the light switch having to be on. good point. I may try to rig up something with maybe a flat 4 way trailer plug to a trickle charger in conjunction with my block heater (since its going to be plugged in anyway) then I won't have to open the cowls and everything will be toasty for winter. Gary that plug is to hook up lights on a wagon or traler. I know it is not original but the batt. frame I have mounted to the frame has the batt. out in the open easy to get to. an old IHC docter told my dad and I years ago to get the batts. out from under the hood sometimes he said you need to get to them in a hurry on any tractor.
