I have a 340 and was wondering how hard it is to change the TA clutch while I am changing the engine clutch.

Brian;

I've done several, 400, SMTA & 300 Utility. It's not that hard but it is time consuming. I could send you photos of my SMTA replacement.

Good Luck!

I assume the 300 is similar to the SMTA. If so you have to split the tractor to change engine clutch. Front half isn't too bad as you can make A frame split stands. Back is heavy. To do TA clutch you have to split the middle section out also. Not bad if you have a good hoist or a loader. Whe I split my smta I took it apart just ahead of the transmission first as I needed to put in a new coupler on the pto shaft. I decided to go ahead and fix ta so I took the middle section out next. It is heavy but handled it with a loader. It helps to have either a I&T manuel or better yet an IH repair manuel, parts book also helps. I used long bolts with heads cut off of same size as front and rear unit to line up parts when putting back together and taking apart.
