I've found a pair of farmall M's near where I work, tins good on both, paints not too bad, one has a flat rear and 12v, the other has 6v but starts in a heartbeat and sounds real good, i flooded the one running 12v, think i got the wrong switch. Does 1250 each sound fair?

Randy -

Were you able to find the gaskets for between dist/drive assy and drive assy/governor, or did you have to make them? Looked like maybe you were making one in one of the pics on your farmallh site. They are very thin/rubbery - if you made them, what material did you use?

Have been enjoying your farmallh site - it looks great.

I just bought an 'M' here in Minnesota that runs great, has fenders, wheel weights, and two way hydrolics. But, the back tires are shot. Paid $750.

Something else to think about, some people seem to think that because they have seen a few tractors advertised for a certain price, then that must be what the tractor is worth. Economics lesson #one, the asking price very seldom will reflect the actual value of any given item. The actual value cannot be determined until after the tractor has actually been sold.

If I was going to give 1250 a peice for them I would make darn sure they were either in excellant mechanical shape, or had new tires, or good paint with all the extras, or something. Just saying I would hate to pay that for just a regular old average M that is going to need some work done to it when you get it home. Now then, I was talking to some guys here awhile back that said the value of an M had gone up here lately, but I am sure they were referring to restored M's and not the market on the bottom end. Your location might make a difference too. Just my two cents worth.

Here where I live, due to the depressed economy or whatever, people have been having a hard time getting even $1,000 for an M, unless it is in very good condition, been that way for about a year now.

scot, i think that's an ok price. i've been browsing the ads here, price checking M's, and H's. of course, if 1250 a piece is what is being asked, always try to get a lower price on buying both. it never hurts to bargin with someone. take care.

That's an okay price. I paid 1200 for one that runs like a top, but had bad tires and bad paint.

Keep in mind that tires can be quite spendy. Also, if the tractors have some of the more expensive accessories like precleaner with glass jar, fenders, mud scraper on the narrow front, battery box, swinging drawbar, belt pulley, etc. You'll be ahead of the game. Adding these pieces after the fact can be expensive too.
