Hello, i'm from Holland and here are a few IH 1066 and 1466 am i right they can shift 4 times under load like a powershift? Was this an option or do al the 66 have this possibility?
What is the difference between a normal 66 and a blackstripe?
Thanks,

An IH fan from holland

I have never heard of a 4-speed powershifttrans-
mission. I have a 1568 with the V8 diesel, and has the 2-speed "Torque Amplifier" and mounted on
the opposite side on the dashboard than the gear-
levers. I donīt think there were much difference
on regular 66 series and "The black Stripe" models
other than the decals. When the black stripe came
out, the "Farmall" name was history.I think that
was in 1975.
Best Wishes, Jens Andersen Denmark

IH never had a power-shift tansmission, at least till Case bought them out. The TA is the only "power shift" part of their power train. High and low side in each gear. The 50 series tractors did have a syncronized tansmission you could shift on the go, but had to use the clutch.

The CASE/IH Magnums WERE the 5X88 series rearends with the 8.3L Cummins engine and some different sheetmetal. Most of the R&D work for the powershift was done by the time Tenneco bought IHC. The Red Case tractors were a short term fill-in till the machine tools IH had at FARMALL could be installed in the plant at RACINE.

the farmall name wasn't removed until the 50 series came out. look on your serial tag it still read f- then the serial #. the black strip had the 86 series three point links and axle housings and bell housing.
