Well....I did it! I bought my first Farmall project tractor. A sweet little '53 Super A. I'ts gonna need a hood and some tires, but mechanically sound and runs smooth. Has a fast hitch, and came with a plow, disc, fast hitch 1-row planter, fert. side dresser, and complete set of cultivators. Can't wait for winter so I can start on the restoration! Oh....what should I have paid for that?

Ed, Good Deal! Price is realitive only to what you got in the trade. Sounds to me like it was a full load getting her home. Also with no pic it adds to this difficulty. IMO..if you hauled this home for less than $2000, sounds like a Good Deal to me. Keep us posted to your progress. There is a Ton of folks that will help you here.
Good Luck,
John A.

Ed: I think your first responce is a bit shy, a Super A with fast hitch and all those implements and in the condition you describe is worth $3,000. to $4,000. I have all of those implements and can tell you they are the value not the tractor. When those tractors were bought new not all of them had a full complement of implements like that. If you start trying to acquire a plow, disk, planter, cultivators and side dresser after the fact you will quickly see this.

I have 14 - SA or fast hitch implements and can assure you $10,000. will not take them out of here. I once sold a set of cultivators, no working tools or side dresser for $1,000. The plows are quite scarce and the disk is rare.

He can correct me, but I think the only fast hitch implement he has is the one row planter. The fast hitch is off a later model, or perhaps a dealer installation, so "relatively" unusual.

CNKS: Good point, I was asuming it was all fast hitch, plow, disk and planter. That do make a bit of difference.

The equipment is in fact, all 1pt. fast hitch equipment. CNKS...are you saying that the '53' Super A would not have had a "factory" fast hitch?

Yes, the first single point fast hitch on the A thru 140 series was on the 100, which followed the Super A-1. Super A-1 followed the Super A and had a bigger engine, water pump, and other minor changes.
