It is possible to put a fast hitch on a farmall 300 rowcrop without a fast hitch?

Would the fast hitch simply bolt on? Or, is this a really complicated thing to do?

Would I be better off just buying a saginaw 3 pt?

I recommend the Saginaw hitch. I have a 300 with a conversion kit and a 48 hitch with a Saginaw hitch, and the Saginaw hitch is much better. I think the Saginaw hitch is better than and any oem hitch I have seen. My2c Irv

Micheal: You can do this, but make sure you get the right hitch, and make sure you have all of it. Get a copy of parts book pages covering hitch.

The hitch will bolt right up if from a 300, 350, 340 and 460. All but the 300 hitch will require a different control valve on tractor, to make draft control work properly. So if the hitch comes from a 350, 340 or 460 make sure you get a controll valve that matches the hitch.

Personally I would go with the after market 3 point and maintain some type of standard drawbar as well. Fast hitches were a curse for being loose as a drawbar in pulling items like trailers, wagons, trailing pto equipment, etc. I cut two of those fast hitches up for scrap 30 years ago. Pulling a trailing implement was about same as using 2 feet of chain. I rebuilt the pin holes several times but they wouldn't last.

we have a 300 with fasthitch, tightest drawbar on the place, and being able to set the drawbar on the ground sure is nice too when something comes unhooked or doesnt get its jack dropped

That may well be with a half ton trailer, but you start putting a 1,000 hours per year on them pulling every thing from hay balers, big trailer cultivators, forage harvesters, etc. and you will soon see you don't have much of a drawbar. I know there are late 50s and early 60s fast hitch tractors all over America with 3,000 to 5,000 hours on them, hardly broke in. I would guess my 300 probably has 25,000 hours on it today, I don't own it anymore but know the guy that has it and it is now on it's 6th set of pistons and sleeves and 3rd drawbar. The larger tractors were even worse, buy the time my 560 had 6,000 hours on it the fast hitch drawbar had about 6" side to side movement and had been rebuilt twice. I will agree big trailer implememts did a lot of the wear.
