I fired up the old A today, it ran for a few minutes then died. After fixing up the fuel problem. (Empty tank) Face was red enough to power the lights!!
Anyway, it died again. This time the plugs were so fouled, they were no good, popped in another set and away we go.
While checking another fuel problem at the carb, I took it in the shop and cleaned it up. Someone had given me an old Zenith carb they had found, and I started to compare it with mine. It was exactly the same, except this one had a main jet, mine does not. I tried putting the jet on mine and it fit! Hmmmmm mmm, I have had problems with this A since the beginning. Problem: Gas too rich. Well no wonder, with no main jet, I'm getting full fuel into the cylinders. There seems to be a piece missing though from the jet, the needle seems to be missing a gasket or rubber seal. When I install it on the gas will pour out at the needle. Is there some sort of seal for the needle? This could save me alot of plugs.

Actually maybe I boo-booed,
my Blue Ribbon manual shows the Main Jet only on distillate carb, no main jet on gas carb, just a plug.

The gas carb also has a jet under the plug. Not supposed to be adjustable on the gas engine. However the main jet on the gas, dist/ker are the same. The washer on your plug is the same as the washer that is supposed to be with your needle. My SA and C both have the gas engine, haven't tried what you are doing.

Yeah,
I was able to thread the jet in quite nicely. It's the needle that is sloppy, with no seal. Anyway that one is on the shelf for awhile.
