the crank will lay nicely between the frame and the engine. there was no crank holder from the factory on a h or m.

No official mount -- ours was kept under the seat, the crank end went through the rectangular opening in the seat support bracket. It would seem that it would vibrate off but we never lost one.

We carrried one that way on our M for many a year and never lost a crank. Often had a log chain wrapped there also.

Can't resist this one. We had an H that must've had a a deep square tube or something we'd put the handle end in on the axle similar to the back of the drawbar clamp. The last one didn't have it and we'd lay it on the platform against the seat and wind up kicking it off and looking for it. My dad kicked a grease gun off the platform and in the hay chopper. Stopped the tractor and needed new knives. Sure glad it wasn't me, but we didn't carry a grease gun on the platform anymore.

Good Question, but I think most people just layed it inside the r/h frame rail near the dist/mag. Now if there was a factory mounting I'd be interested in knowing also!
