I have a '39 Farmall and a '40 Farmall B. I noticed that the PTO shaft for the '39 is at least '1/4 smaller than the '40 B. Was that common? I want to use the '39 to pull an auger to load my bins but it can't run any because the pto shaft is to small.

Is there an adapter or do I have to find a pto shaft from a B or a C to fix this?

Thanks,

Pete

The A & B are identical. The early Farmalls all, (did I say all? I think) had 1 1/8 pto shafts into 1941. At some point they becames standardized thruout all tractors and all became 1 3/8 diameter. You can buy an adapter at any farm store, I recommend the style with a runon clutch to use with a brush hog. About $50 for this style, but well worth the extra safety factor.
