I need to know how to check the hydraulic fluid level on a 1954 Super H it has a reservoir under gas tank? What type of fluid I read somewhere to use motor oil is this correct? Thanks

use the same oil that you use in the engine, just like the book says. i have been farming with these tractors for thirtyone years and that is what i put in the hydraulic systems of these old tractors and have never had a problem. on your super h just fill it up until it is full.

Yes it will work, but the late 1953-1954 Super H's have live hydraulics, not the H, early Super H belly pump. These systems were designed for touch control fluid, which has been replaced with Hytran. (I first drove an H in 1950).

I suppose motor oil will work, but the recommended fluid is Hytran, from your Case-IH dealer, or other sources that meet the Hytran specs. Add until the fluid is viseible in the filler opening.
