I recently put new rings in my C and it smoked a little after completion, but I thought it whould slow down after they seat themseleves. Now, about two weeks later, it is heavy spitting oil out the muffler. Does anyone have so advice on what the problem is.

I would pull the spark plugs and check if one or all are burning any oil..... .if only one maybe a broken ring when installed or if all....as suggested, cylinder wall problem or the like....

Ben,

Did you stagger the slots of the rings? I had a friend in high school that put rings in a Falcon Sprint and lined all the slots up. That thing smoked like a mosquito fogger.Just a thought, you're suppsed to stagger them 90 to 120 degrees away from each other, even the three piece oil scraper ring if it has one. This one is particularly improtant to space.

Good Luck!

How did the walls look after you busted up the glaze with the hone. Did you go with standard size or 3thous over? Were the rings chrome or steel? Better take a compression check and see what kind of reading you get.

Are you sure that is oil, or is it a condensation/carbon mix in the cool exhaust system? During high humidity, mine does that and spots up the hood with lots of black spots/streaks until the engine warms up.

Will that vary between tractors? Because I also have an H and it doesn't do it.
