Ok, I did not find any antifreeze seeping under the block when I took off the oil pan. Even after putting pressure in the radiator. Today I removed the valve cover. I would see antifreeze on top of the head. Head looks rusty. Does that mean I have a cracked head? This probabably sounds like a stupid question. there is a steel (or copper) tube that goes from the front of the head to the rear over the rocker arms(about 3/8 inch in diameter). If this for oil or water? There is a small hole in it??? Should that hole be there?

Is my next step to remove the head??
Again, I appreciate your comments.

thanks Dave

The tube is called the "cylinder head breather tube", no oil, except residual, no water -- the hole is supposed to be there.

That tube is to suck blow-by fumes out of the engine. It is piped to the top of the aircleaner so that these fumes are reburned by the engine. If anti-freeze is visible when you remove the valve cover you must have some problem with the head

Could it be a head gasket leaking and coming up around a head bolt ? Aren't there supposed to be brass washers on some of the bolts to prevent something like this from happening ? Not sure about this, just a thought. And yes I know thoughts can be dangerous :)
