Hi Again,

I don't remember if I asked this question before, if I did I don't remember the answer. On the back of the throttle quadrant (facing the driver) is a small right angle bracket with a hole in the top. What's it for? My '39 "A" is magneto hand start so the only controls I have are a manual mag ground cable. Although the steering column appears to have been replaced the throttle quadrant looks original. So can someone tell me what went in that bracket or if it really belongs on my '39 "A"?

Thanks,
bob

Bob, if you have a small hole (1/2 in or less) than the original mechanical kill cable was attached there. If it is a 3/4 inch hole, then odds are that the throttle bracket was replaced with a later version. This version was for the electrical ground out switch used on the later models. To my knowledge, ( I'm relying on a 64 year old memory) the 39's had just a angle attached to the steering post and not the throttle quadrant. Ours didn't last long, and we used the "dismount the tractor, thumb pressure against the magnito kill switch method".

Bob, sounds like the mount for the kill switch. Is it about 1/2" diameter? I think even the crank start versions had a kill switch there. Dave.
