My h has been setting for a number of years, so when I got it home I replaced the following: gas, oil, antifreeze, plugs, wires, points, condenser, cap, rotor, coil. when i tried to start it it fired and ran for about 10 sec and then it died. now when i try to start it the only way I can get it to even sputter(for no length of time) is to quickly choke it. I have the main fuel jet turned out 2 1/2 turns and the idel screw out 1 1/2 turns. It feels like it is not getting enough fuel. please give me some suggestions on how to get this thing to start and run.

THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP(YOU PEOPLE REALLY DO GIVE GOOD ADVICE)

You could make a little gas tank and connect it to the carbeurator, set it above the carbeurator, this bypasses the tank, lines, filters, ect. and then u will know if it is in the carb or the fuel system.

I could'nt get my MYH to run either, best I could do was to make it shuffle around a little.

I would check gaskets mainly intake/exhaust at head it is most likly sucking air not drawing fuel up unless it choked. Hope this helps. Rick P.

You must have dislodged some dirt or rust in the gas tank and plugged up the carb. Remove the carb and clean, get a new seat and needle, remove gas line and check for any obstructions, check filter system- clean or replace, check gas tank again for any sign of rust or dirt.Once you do all this open up the gass line to check the flow from the tank, if it is good, connect back to carb and strat it up. If the flow is slow you have dirt or rust stuck in the sediment bowl assy- clean out or replace. Good luck! Take you time.

If it runs for a moment when choking thet indicates a lack of fuel. Remove the fuel line at the carb inlet & determine if you are getting a strong, pencil size flow of gasoline.
If not, go back towards the tank & determine where the blockage is. (sediment bowl, shutoff valve)
If you have good fuel to the carb then a carb cleaning may be your next best bet.
Old gas can plug your passages in the carb or the float may just be sticking.
Do your detective work & the "H" should be running strong again.
Good luck.

I have taken the carb apart and cleaned it all out. I mounted the top half of the carb to the tractor and worked with the float. I let fresh gas flow through the needle valve for about 20 min. The carb seems to be clean but I guess that i should mabey put a kit in it.

Did you check that the float drops far enough for the gas to flow? It sounds like a kit is in order. I would also get a can of the parts cleaner and soak the carb (disassembled) at least over night. Try using an air hose on the small drilled out channels to make sure you have no blockages. Good luck!!
