I replaced the starter on my IH 574 last night. The starter worked fine and the tractor started, but now the clutch doesn't work at all! How is this possible? What could I have done to make the clutch not work???

I appreciate any ideas or help. Thanks in advance.

My brother said our 574 clutch burned out at 300 hours and the dust wrecked the starter. Maybe your clutch was ready to go too - I don't know. Another thing to look at is the shaft that goes into the clutch housing and moves the throw out bearing fork in. One of ours broke one time and it wasn't real obvious.

the only thing I can think of is there is a pin in the clutch linkage near where the starter is. Maybe you pushed the pin out by accident. We almost lost the pin in out 574 clutch.

Thanks for your suggestions. I was hoping it was some sort of wire that wasn't connnected properly. Is there no electrical component to the clutch system? It looks to be purely mechanical to me, but I'm new to tractor repair and was hoping I had just hooked up the wires to the starter wrong when I replaced it.
