A guy I know was using his 1940 Farmall H lift-all today( The Lift-all was not used in ???? many years) . We added some oil to it before using it ( 10 wt. non-det oil) . He was using the Lift-all , it was working fine all day today then all of a sudden, it won't work at all. If you pull the control rod back, the engine feels it. They used another tractor instead and the hyd. cylinder lifted ok so we know that it wasn't the hyd. cylinder. ( the hyd. cylinder was yesterdays problem which we solved by changing cylinders) Any ideas? I am thinking a stuck relief valve. Thanks.

I meant to say 30 wt, non-det oil. He has a Cross cylinder (Size unknown) on a NH 7' haybine. Another tractor lifted it ok so I think the cylinder is ok. Thanks.

To light of oil would not quit like that it would get weaker as it got hot.

If the relief valve stock shut it should lift if it stock open it will not lift and you said the engine feels it so the pump is working sounds like could be bad coupler or a missmatched coupler. If you are using the back port on the left side that could be the problem it is for the part of old cultivator that went behind the wheels and is a slow drop.

Your first problem is the oil.
This time of year you need 30 weight non-detergent.
I suspect the oil just got too hot & thinned out so the pump gears couldn't build enough pressure to do the job.
