I am getting ready to put a 2 spool valve on my M and all the adds say that they have a float on one valve. What is the float and how does it work? Also, what kind of pipe sealent should I use on the fittings? Thanks.

Tom float is just what it says. SAY on a loader you would hock the lift to the float valve and the bucket to the other valve, that way you will have pressure to lift a load pressure to push down to make the loader dig or if you put the valve in float the loader will have no pressure up or down and will float along the ground I use float to level off lane alot so it will not dig. So it means you have no pressure up or down on that valve when in float, the other valve well work the way it should all the time.

The float setting is usually used with a loader. you put the bucket down and in float setting it has neither down pressure or up pressure, will allow it to sort of float along the ground. Usually achieved by one of the positions of the valve handle. I use teflon tape on most fittings. I bought a hydraulic cylinder once that said not to use the tape so I used the teflon liquid. seems to work about the same but easier to use.

The main thing with teflon tape is not to allow any of it to get in the system. Can do bad things to pumps and valves and the like. If you use it do not put the tape up to the end of the fittings.
